Hike/Bike Weekend: July 2-5, 2026
July 2 @ 1:00 pm – July 5 @ 5:00 pm
A Note from Dave Wilson:
We’re looking forward to the annual Bike Hike Weekend. We have several hikes and bike rides
planned.
On Thurs. July 2, we will meet our friends from the MIT Hiking Club in the parking lot at
Stowe at 1 p.m. to get to the peak of Mount Mansfield. We’ll take the gondola up, then
traverse the trail along the Chin to the Face of Mansfield. Our hike leader, Tony, says it’s
a two-hour hike.
On Friday, June 3, we plan to hike Camel’s Hump. That’s a fairly rigorous hike that
takes about 5 hours. Hoping to take a dip in Lareau’s swimming hole upon our return –
or maybe in a stream at Camel’s Hump.
Friday night, we’ll eat at the Basebox.
On Saturday, we’ll go to the Warren July 4th parade – an outrageous display of fun and
patriotism. We’ll leave for the shuttle from Sugarbush around 8.45 am or so.
Saturday night, we’ll go to Sugarbush for a picnic and the fireworks. So bring some fixings for the
picnic.
Bike rides will range from 15 miles down to Warren and around to Waitsfield, to a 45-
mile loop to Middlesex or the 65-mile two Gaps ride. Carla Stein is still looking for
someone to ride with on the Two Gaps ride.
On Sunday, we could hike up General Stark’s Mountain. The cyclists will do a loop down
to Moss Glen Falls.
